The BPG Construction Director position is a critical role in supporting the vision and mission of the company.The key roles include managing the following:Department FinancialsMarket DevelopmentEmployee DevelopmentCustomer RelationsDepartment WorkloadProductionThe incumbent is responsible for planning and managing all phases of the department’s projects from the bid process and contract negotiation through the construction and completion of the work.

The director must be knowledgeable in all phases of the project flow and be able to lead the team to perform the highest quality work for our customers.As a member of the Executive Leadership team, the individual will be responsible for strategic planning, including forecasting and implementing growth strategies for the department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field required10 years of proven work experience in construction management, underground a plusSuperior knowledge and experience with OSP Underground and Aerial construction practices, policies and proceduresPossess strong attention to detail to perform duties within quality control standardsAbility to work independently and handle multiple projects and prioritiesExcellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, bi-lingual preferred (Spanish/English)Excellent leadership and human resources management skills to allocate resources efficiently and effectivelyPossess critical thinking and analytic skills to plan projects, assign human and equipment resources, optimize financial results, and minimize safety issuesAbility to effectively interact with all levels within the Company and its subsidiariesExperience in HCSS bid and job cost products preferred, but not requiredProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project)Must have excellent time management and work habits DUTIESThe duties of this position are listed below.

These duties help define clearer expectations for this position but are not intended to detail all tasks.SafetyEnsure that all crew members, job site visitors and any subcontractors/vendors are equipped with proper PPEAdhere to safety program requirements of the Company and its customers’ contractsEnsure that weekly department meetings occur with a safety topic and documented attendance sheetsRecommend technical training and seminars for ongoing training of the departmentConduct post-incident reviews and develop preventative measures to ensure safe work environments are always a number 1 priorityMaintain an EMR that is below industry averageProject ManagementOversight and responsibility for all aspects of department workflows including:Contract reviews and executionBid preparation and negotiationEstablish construction pre-walk and planning policies and proceduresEnsure required permits, blue stakes, water meters, bonding and other pre-construction tasks are completedNegotiate subcontractor master service agreements and ensure conformance with company standardsSchedulingReview of job costs, time records and profitability of projectsPreparation of change orders as neededMaintain complete job files to include cost estimates, scope of work, correspondence, approved permits, as-builts, bluestake worksheets, city call-ins, and any other pertinent information for the projectDevelopment and modification of procedures and workflows as requiredAdherence to industry, contract and legal standards of constructionProject completion within time frames and on budgetProvide timely close-out documentation for projectsSubmit customer billing information in a timely mannerReview and approve vendor invoices in a timely mannerDevelop and monitor quality procedures BenefitsEmployer-paid options for medical and dental insurance for eligible employeesAdditional voluntary medical, dental, vision, disability, accident, legal, ID theft, and life insurance plans available401K Plan, including employer matchPaid vacation/sick/holidays for eligible employees
