Job Summary:# ########### The Nurse Intern performs under the direct supervision of the RN and is delegated an assignment to achieve quality patient care.# He/She is involved in the implementation phase of the nursing process and is organizationally accountable to the Patient Care Manager of the unit.# The Nurse Intern #performs tasks assigned by the RN in an assistant role to the RN on the unit and is expected to perform all the tasks performed by ED Techs and ED Care Techs.# ##The Nurse Intern is trained in ED Tech duties and competencies that are validated through the Education department.# Perform other job duties as directed.# # Performance Expectations: ● Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide technical care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to collect data and relays appropriate data to nurse, status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient#s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. ● Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient#s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and provides care. ●Demonstrates skills to maintain a safe and clean work environment. ● Embraces and practices We Care philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee and non-employee care. ● Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports and verbal communication. ● Communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members. ● Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment and certifications to include telemetry monitoring and Basic Life Support certification. ● Demonstrates technical aptitude for working, troubleshooting, and assisting the nurse with multiples pieces of equipment used for patient care including but not limited to telemetry monitoring devices and blood glucose monitoring. ●Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner.# Adheres to and promotes established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety, infection control and compliance standards. Demonstrates the ability to perform EKG tracing and correctly place telemetry monitor leads on patients. Demonstrates the ability to assist professional nursing staff in the caring for patients requiring emergency resuscitation. Demonstrates the ability to perform phlebotomy and collection of specimens according to policy and procedure. Demonstrates the ability to document vital signs and patient encounters appropriately in the EMR. Demonstrates the ability to set up sterile trays while maintaining the sterile field while assisting physicians with various procedures. Demonstrates the ability to tolerate physically demanding task of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient. Demonstrates the ability to stock linens and supplies according to PAR levels in the ED. Demonstrates the ability to use proper phone etiquette. Demonstrates the ability to provide 1:1 monitoring for suicide precaution, restraint use, de-escalation and peaceful interventions. Demonstrates the ability to clean rooms terminally and in between patients discharged Qualifications: Education/Skills######### High school diploma or equivalent.# Successful completion of required training and competencies.## Completion of 1st #semester or# trimester in nursing school. # # # Work Experience:##### Successful passing of nursing clinicals.# ##################### # ################################### # Certification/Licensure: # Required Preferred Timeframe # # # # Current license with the MS State Board of Nursing.
